Spanish is one of my top subjects! Bachelors degree in Spanish. Studied abroad in Spanish speaking countries.

My language learning career began in middle school when I chose to study Spanish. having enjoyed the language so much, I continued all throughout high school and eventually chose to continue my Spanish learning in college. I chose to study Spanish and Secondary Education. during my undergraduate work, I was recommended for tutoring Spanish at the beginning and intermediate levels. I continued that work for my sophomore and junior years. During my time in college, I was fortunate enough to have the ability to study abroad for a semester in Granada, Spain. There I lived with a host family for four months and was enrolled in 4 college level courses at the local university. It was an excellent experience that will be impossible to forget. After returning to the states, I completed my student teaching at an inner city High School and a suburban High School where I taught levels two a ... read more

Spanish is one of my top subjects! Qualified to work with students from Middle School to college and beyond. Especially like to work with adult students.

I am certified to teach French and Spanish, 7-12 in New York State. I have over thirty years of teaching experience in both public and private schools, as well as religious schools and boarding schools. I am a superior one-on-one instructor who guarantees results! I have prepared many adult students for living and studying abroad, as well as preparation for job promotions. I like to work with the home school community. I have brought failing students of French and Spanish to a level of high performance and have been able to change attitudes from "I can't learn this...to I want to TEACH this!".
My one-on-one approach is to first assess the needs of the student, and then I tailor the lessons to meet that student's specific needs. There are many reasons for wanting to learn a foreign language, or to improve existing skills. One sole approach does not meet the needs of every st ... read more

I believe that all children are capable of learning, but many experience barriers that inhibit the learning process. My strategy is to identify these barriers, remove them whenever possible, or otherwise embrace them and work within the circumstances to achieve the best possible outcome. My background in counseling and psychology has proven invaluable in the classroom and in collaborating with parents and educators. I am looking into the process of becoming a certified teacher, and will strive to make a difference in your child's life, helping them become more successful and enthusiastic learners.

I take a more hands on approach to teaching as I know that everyone learns in different ways. I believe in language acquisition as compared to simple memorization of words and grammar. I like to bring my own cultural knowledge into instruction as well. I believe anyone can learn Spanish. It is a very useful and relevant skill. I make and plan creative lessons and use methods that are heavily researched. I am understanding, adaptable, and patient. My main concern is that a student is understanding and is engaged with the material. That means if a topic needs to be taught in a different way or reviewed again that is perfectly OK. I follow a mainly constructivist framework in my teaching. This means that meaning is greater than anything else.
Teaching is my passion. I earned BA in Spanish Adolescence Education in May of 2011 from The College of Saint Rose and graduated cum laude. I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I hated science and math when I was in junior high and high school. When I asked my teachers questions, they didn't give me the answers I was looking for. Luckily, I got into a great university and found out, after taking a few core classes, that I actually love science. Once I really understood some of the key concepts, I found it to be fun and interesting. I have taught several sections of undergraduate geology labs while attaining my BA in geological sciences and have enjoyed being the one who gets to answer the questions.
I teach others by learning and adapting myself. I love finding new and creative ways to explain familiar concepts. For my degree I had to take a year of chemistry, which I immediately fell in love with, even though I had hated it in high school. I found myself tutoring the other students in my class for fun and even took two organic chemistry classes as elec ... read more

I started my career at Fairfield University as a Biology student and quickly learned that it was an exciting and very challenging field. I have learned a plethera of study skills, and enjoy helping others. While in school I was a volunteer basketball coach which involved teaching. I feel that through my life experiences and education I would make an outstanding tutor
I enjoy helping others achieve their goals. I am a very optimistic person and try to focus on peoples strengths. I am extremely patient and easy to get along with, and will do whatever it takes for my subject to have success. I have my own method for studying which I feel works, but may not work for everybody so I am willing to find out what works for an individual. I also feel that tutoring is a learning experience for both teacher and subject, and I look forward to the oppurtunity.

I graduated Cum Laude from Manhattan College with a double major in Psychology and Communications. In addition to studying for two majors, I was also a Division 1 athlete and held 2 jobs. Seeing as I was very busy with extracirricular activities, I believe that my graduating with honors was truly a testament to how hard I worked. Since college, I have worked in two jobs that have really tested my gramatical, reading, editing and speaking skills. I tutored all types of students while in college and can't wait for the opportunity to tutor again. When I commit to a job, I follow through with 110% of my time and energy.

I have worked with children for 30 years. I understand the elementary level reading progam having subbed for teachers, teaching assistants and reading teachers for 2 years. I taught pre-reading skills to 3 year old children for 8 years in a local preschool. I am 3/4 of the way through my Teaching Assistant Certification. I have an adult son with ADD and have struggled right along with him throughout his school years. I fought for/with him to get the appropriate learning needs for him. He was to smart for services so it was a struggle. I have learned that all children learn differently and one approach does not work for all. I have also learned several techniques to guide my son and not only help him learn, but to make it an enjoyable experience. I am very patient and nurturing and work very well with children at the elementary level.
Again, I have learned that all childr ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

The greatest reward in teaching is when a student realizes his or her own potential; to achieve this, educators must tailor lessons to a child’s individual learning style, such as visual, auditory, kinesthetic or tactile. My teaching style, then, is dependent upon the student, as it is crucial that the educator designs and modifies lessons conducive the child’s needs. I am a strong believer in constructivism, in which the child discovers his or her own learning through active and engaging lessons. The teacher provides guidance and assistance throughout this process, but the student is encouraged to discover and connect new material to what he or she knows, fostering the child’s sense of ownership over learning.
Having recently completed a dual Masters degree in Childhood Education and Special Education, I have had the pleasure of working with children in grades 1 - 6 in both spe ... read more

I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to possess the drive and desire to want to achieve academic success. Having a love of learning and understanding what it takes to transfer that love to young people is a gift and my purpose in life. I believe in helping individuals to become the best that they can be. When you are on target in your purpose, it is like breathing - easy. With that said, my area of expertise is math up to algebra. On the elementary level, I can assist with all fundamental subjects but again math is my love. If they are willing to try, I'm the right person. Positive encouragement goes a very long way.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career in Cooperstown, NY in 2001, as a mid-career professional in search of a meaningful job. Previously, I worked in the entertainment industry. Seeking to make a difference in the lives of our children, I moved to Los Angeles to teach English to the children of Latino immigrants. It was the highlight of my teaching profession. Subsequently, my husband and I relocated to NY state where I have been teaching high school (all subjects) to emotionally challenged adolescent students. I have taught and tutored most academic subjects.
I teach to my students so they can learn. Each of my students has a different modality of acquiring and retaining information, so I assess that style and present instruction in a way that is meaningful. My work towards a master's degree in special education highlighted the various ways in which a student gains knowledge. I use that ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I began as a middle school English teacher in the Bronx a decade ago. For ten years I’ve taught English language and literacy skills in New York, Oakland and Ecuador. I speak Spanish and have a second master’s degree in journalism. I achieved humbling recognition as a writer and producer of print and radio journalism in Alabama and New York. Called back to my original love for helping young adults, I returned to my starting point, accepting another middle school job in the Bronx in 2009 before circumstances pushed me upstate. As a teacher and journalist I have developed a deep understanding of English, and have had much success in teaching it to all levels of learners.
I understand frustration at school because I experienced it myself. I believe a better grasp of communication (reading, writing, speaking skills) can change a student’s confidence about learning (and life) and improv ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I entered college as a pre-med student and came out a writer, but since my family insisted all writers lived in garrets, I became a teacher. Later I traveled with first a classical choir and then a rock band, put my editing skills to work for a geopolitical organization and lectured on economics, dialectical materialism, spirituality, and more mundane topics, such as camping and travel. I was a social worker with the State of New York for 15 years and still practice privately. I was an ESL instructor in South America and the US. Currently I teach freshman seminar, Research and Writing and Media and Society at two local colleges, and am working on a book of poetry as well as three novels.
I enjoy watching people's faces light up when they grasp a point. Utilizing everything from movies, games, lecture and discussion, I try to find out where my student can plug into the subject under ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from the State University of New York at Albany, I am driven to achieve the highest level of excellence in education especially in the following generations. I have received a BA in Chemistry and Pre-Med. These degrees have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of science, math, and english. In addition, I have learned extensive health and grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. During the last three years I have tutored students in English, Mathematics, and Science.
The best teaching style in my opinion, explains how to research, plan and write essays, gives students time to practice these skills in class, and ensures students get feedback on how well they have done on each sub-skill. Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a ... read more
