I was thankful to find the College of St. Mary's Masters of Arts in Teaching. It is a solid program that has given me the opportunity to have a formal education in teaching. In my program I have over 100 practicum hours in a middle school science classroom, I tutored AP chemistry, and I have had exposure to reading comprehension strategies in many of my classes. A Little Bit About Me...

In the past I have worked as both a teachers aide/paraprofessional and substitute teacher for a total of 4 years. While working as a teachers aide I worked with individual and groups of elementary level students on course work throughout the day. This included things like: helping students with math homework, listening to students read and helping them with reading comprehension, helping students prepare for tests by quizzing them. I currently work as a pre-k teacher. My work day consists of teaching my students their numbers, letters, letter sounds, and basic counting. I am certified to teach Kindergarten through 6th grade in the state of Kansas. My specialties are reading, spelling, phonics, and Kindergarten through 3rd grade math.
