A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career while obtaining my Master's degree at the U of Iowa. I taught the entry Business Administration course as part of my graduate program. This included grading, testing, actvities, and coaching students. Once employed in the corporate world, I continued teaching within my corporate position, as well as in adult education settings with Indiana Wesleyan, Univesity of Indianapolis, and Indiana Tech. I expanded my role from adjunct faculty to part-time consultant by helping them development their Information Technology program. Additionally, I continued as a Junior Achievement consultant for 7th grade math courses, and Kindercare instruction to children ages 3-8 on computer skills and general learning. I am a life long learner and teacher.

More About This Tutor...

I believe the first step is to always ascertain where a student is in their comprehension of the subject and what their propensity is to learn (i.e. quick learner, learns by examples etc.). That gives me an idea of how fast/slow to go and how best to get to cement actual learning. Generally, I like to get the student to arrive at answers by asking pointed questions so that their minds can understand the process versus simply memorizing the answers. I also believe in providing both positive feedback as well as constructive criticism where needed.
I have always been fascinated by numbers and how the analysis of numbers can be used in nearly everything we do. I have a MBA from a top 20 program that has helped me further develop my mathematical skills in statistics and calculus. Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way.
I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales.
