How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. I have been a CEO, Vice President, Consultant, Senior Broker, Artist, Photographer, Glass Blower, Jewelry Designer and writer, the job titles have changed over the years; the only consistent has been that teaching has always been a part of my working life.

I have built upon this experience by earning two Master's degrees, one in Special Education and the other in Library Science. My approach to teaching relies heavily on the use of modeling. Modeling is a powerful tool in the development of not only writing and language skills, but also in exposing my students to a framework which will allow them to hone their own thought processes and work habits. Incorporating a wide variety of vocabulary-building activities into daily lessons strengthens my students' understanding of the subject area and provides a familiarity with language that will aid them in the ability to express themselves in a much more effective manner.
