Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

Dr. Griffith Garland studied engineering physics as an undergraduate at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, pioneering the program by being a member of the first class to graduate with that degree. She was twice a member of Who's Who Among American College and University Students and graduated summa cum laude. She put herself through college by tutoring students, working as a teaching assistant, and becoming the training manager at the University's computer lab. She went on to study geochemistry at Washington University in St. Louis, where she researched hydrothermal systems on Mars and their implications for life. While earning her Ph.D. at Washington University, she realized that some professors had difficulty conveying material to their students. She decided to be different and completed a Master's of Arts in Teaching, specializing in mathematics and sciences. After graduate sch ... read more

Algebra I is one of my top subjects! I can teach all HS level and under mathematics.

I have tutored fellow classmates in HS. I've taught my nieces and nephew to understand and love mathematics, as well as respect science, which is really just the real-world application of mathematics. I can explain many abstract topics in tangible ways. I love when I see that twinkle in someone's eye when something clicks and they grab onto the topic they once didn't comprehend.
Obtuse; willing to think outside of the box to get the student interested, even, excited to learn.

Experienced instructor with 99 ASVAB

I am an instructor at Virginia College and VC recently cancelled its ASVAB tutoring program. I have had many successful students go through the program, but due to funding constraints the college can no longer support the initiative. Nevertheless, I am going to continue tutoring and hope to see many students pass all of their exams! J.D. Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, 2010 B.S. Mathematics and Criminal Justice, University of South Carolina, 2007
I will begin by walking you through how to solve the problems. After a few sessions of that, we will then move on to simple exams taken by the student to gauge your knowledge. Finally, we will end with a practice exam to ensure that you are at the appropriate level.

University professor with years of tutorong experience.

I have taught and tutored since I was sixteen. I currently teach for USC, a few online universities, Syl. Learning Center, and am a Professional Writing Tutor. I teach all grades and university levels, but my specialties are AP Courses and university courses. As an educator, I strive to improve the student's study habits, test taking skills and overall understanding of the subject. I am patient and encourage questions from the student. Also, I believe that "hands on" practice is the best way to really learn a subject. I like to break things down into smaller parts and let the student practice and grasp each concept instead of just showing them how to do it. Repetition is important to the learning process, so I frequently use practice problems to reinforce the daily lesson. I also like to identify the source of the problem and fix it even if I have to go back a few levels from what the student is currently learning. Although my natural style of teaching is patient and persistent, I am capable of adapting to many different styles to ensure that the student learns.

I feel that every child can learn, but every child learns differently. I feel it is very important to connect the content with the students. It makes the learning more meaningful. I enjoy working with students in small groups so that I can give them the attention that they need. My students learn through many of their own experiences as well. I am very patient with my students. I very rarely give my students an answer to a questions. Instead, I ask in the student appropriate questions or point the student in the right direction to figure out the answer on his or her own. I believe in positive reinforcement and allowing the child to succeed. Each learner is capable of learning when given the chance.
As a successful learner, I studied education in college. I graduated in four years with a 4.0 grade point average in the Education Department. I student-taught in a first grade ... read more

I really love helping students understand the material. One rule that I do have is that students should at least try and not be lazy about the matter. I remember seeing one quote way back when I first started mathematics, "Mathematics is not a spectator sport." Now this may sound cheesy but this is the truth in order to get through a math class you must work hard at it and practice, practice, and practice some more and if truely don't get something I will be more than glad to help.
I have an earned M.S. and B.S. in Applied Mathematics which have given me the needed skills to work with students. I also have worked in a Math tutoring lab for about a year. In addition, I have taught a summer algebra class as well as graded statistics papers for professors.

I believe I have a great teaching style which enables me to relate concepts in a way that any new student to chemistry can understand. I love using visual aids to help get new ideas across, since I myself is a visual learner. I also like to get the student involved so that I know they are grasping the concepts and not just the answers.
Throughout my undergraduate experience, I worked with many of my fellow students to help them better understand chemistry concepts. I have gained experience in all of the major fields of chemistry including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry. I have even completed inorganic/physical chemistry research which I presented to other scientists. I currently work as a chemist, which keeps my skills sharp.
