My journey through the undergraduate sciences has given me the skills needed to be an effective tutor. Holding a 3.6 GPA, I was able to work with students in group settings, teaching as well as learning. As a member of the chemistry society, we also offered peer tutoring where I was an active participant. My bachelors degree consists of a minor in chemistry while majoring in exercise science. In addition, I have completed additional science coursework in preparation for my fall 2009 MCAT testing. It states that "All beauty is a making one of opposites, and a making one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves" Thus, I relate the subject matter in hand to students' personal lives. For example, if we are learning Le Chartelier's Princlple, which concerns the response of a chemical reaction to stress, I have my students discuss the types of stress they experience, and their responses. We compare this to the beautifully precise and appropriate reaction in Chemistry, where the response is never inapproriate, insufficent or in excess. I believe the best way for someone to learn something is through application and repetition.
