Since graduating from college with BS degrees in physical science, chemistry, and environmental education, I have taught math (basic through pre-calculus) and science (biology, chemistry, physics, life science, physical science) 5th through 12th grade in both private and public schools. I worked two years at a Sylvan Learning Center as a Lead Teacher (and Director of Education) in almost all of their programs (Writing, Academic Reading, General Math, Algebra, Geometry, and SAT prep). I enjoy working with children and get a kick from seeing a discovery or understanding in a students eyes. I've had the opportunity to collect numerous bio. samples for hands on experience. I have also taken workshops in the workings of google earth as a teaching tool along with mapping and watershed principles.I feel I have benn successful in elightening many student's lives.
I started teaching in 1970 as a K-8 substitute, continuing until being hired by a private school in 1975. I then taught full time in East LA.
