Shakespeare is one of my top subjects! I have taught Shakespeare in grades 7-12 and on the university level. I was awarded a scholarship where I studied Shakespeare in London for 3 weeks.

I have taught for 12 years in both a private and public school in Greenville, SC. I am currently teaching at Anderson University but in the classroom and on-line. In grades 7-12 I have taught English literature and writing as well as drama courses. At Anderson University I teach English 101, 102, and 205.
Student centered instruction is the approach I use in my instruction. That means that the student's needs and learning style direct the way the information will be delivered and activities that will guide the learning. Students learn best by doing, so I only lecture for small amounts of time.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Dramatic Arts in 2011. I have directed several theatrical production and dramatic scenes. Additionally, I have worked 1 on 1 with many students on dramatic pieces and monologues for auditions and competitions. I also have served as a judge for several speech and drama competitions (including the National Forensic League). I currently teach Public Speaking on the college level.
For drama and public speaking, I prefer to be highly interactive and enable the student to discover and create his/her own art with knowledgeable guidance and lots of discussion and performance experimentation. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping students build on their strengths and overcome weaknesses in writing. I believe the key to a stimulating composition stems from the interest the writer has in the subject. Equally important is technical aspect of writing. Using a subject of interest to apply the rules of writing is the best way to shake writer's block and increase a student's comfort in English composition.

Originally trained as a teacher of Drama and English, I subsequently spent many years working in the theatre, not only in educational situations but also as an actor, director and writer. I have always found that the first and often most important thing a teacher can do is find the obstacles to learning that we all suffer from and seek ways to remove them.
