I have changed my major a few times from Music therapy, to music, to music education, then finally I just decided that I just wanted to do education. I started studying Early Childhood Education, because I love children, I love teaching them, and I have plenty of patients for them. I have been tutoring at the middle school for 2 years now. My teaching style goes from both pedagogy to description. Once I understand the knowledge of the student, I speak to them on the level of what they know, depending on the age. Since I've worked with students from age 2 to adulthood, I try to relate to students based on their age as well. If the student is not very knowledgeable of music, I tend to explain things to make it plain. Often, professionals tend to speak "over" the student's head with technical words, so they have no clue as to how to produce a note. I use descriptions to make the idea more useful to the student.
