I start out with discussing the area of weakness with the student and then try to investigate why this might be the area of weakness. Once this is discovered, I teach the student (through examples) until they understand the topic with which they need help. Then, I observe how they perform without my guidance and see if they have learned to complete problems solo.

My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I would be happy to help any student improve his or her creative writing skills. It was always one of my favorite subjects, and I believe that a willingness to write creatively comes naturally to most people--and is not only a worthwhile endeavor in and of itself, but can be excellent practice for school papers and later professional writing.
