I feel like I am patient and flexible. I believe that all children can learn with some modifications in place. Collaborating with the student's classroom teacher is critical for the private tutor to do. I am fun and outgoing and my philosophy is the child should be enjoying the tutoring session(but learning of course)! There are ways to make each session fun and enjoyable.
I have been teaching for 29 years. I have a Master's in Education and I am currently finishing my Speech degree. I have taught preschool special education, deaf education/hearing impairment K-5th grade and K/first grade. My passion is reading and literacy skills which I implement with my school age children with hearing impairment. My teaching style is customized to each student's needs. Because all students have different learning styles my instructions are patterned to maximize that student's particular style. After evaluating each student with a baseline test, goals and objectives based on the state's/district's curriculum are determined. My style is setting high but realistic expectations with rigorous assignments. I also try to have an overdose of encouragement and make the learning session fun time for students.
