I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. A Little Bit About Me...

While I do not have a bachelor's degree, through my training as a certified veterinary technician and subsequent employment in both clinical and shelter settings, I have gained strong aptitudes for science and writing skills. During my employment, I developed a strong love for any opportunity to teach and share anything and everything I was able.
I believe that my teaching style is one of patience, encouragement, along with being laid-back, considerate and easy-going. I want to take the time to make sure a subject is well understood. Helping and watching children learn is inherently rewarding. While skills and content must be mastered, methods can and should be tailored to the individual student. Each child has her/his own style of cognitive processing and problem solving. Attention to the learner's style is critical to the successful acquisition of skills and concepts. I strive to make learning fun. Also, I have been trained in assorted mnemonic (memory) strategies. Most importantly, I believe self esteem is an essential factor in educational growth. I like to encourage my students to put themselves into their writing. I like to push my students to write better than what they think is their best. I take pride in following grammatical rules, and am a stickler for proper MLA formatting for research based papers. I believe all children have the right to a great education; they just need someone to push them in the right direction. I love children, and I can almost always find a way to relate to my students.

I am a self starter, and am good at trying to help someone to see what their potential can be. I am a life-long learner and believe education is what makes people successful in today's society. I own a lot of software programs from the Teach12 curricula. I learn such things as discreet math, the Joy of Science and Understanding the Brain to name a few. I read book such as "Character is Destiny" and "Eleanor Roosevelt" to learn about our rich history.
