All students will be given a pre-test prior to instruction so that I can decern if the students problem is one of cognative development or simply gaps in the learning process. I love to teach one-on-one or in small groups. The greatest moment for me, as a teacher, is what I call the “Aha!” that I see in a student’s eyes when he/she finally understands a troublesome concept. I believe that teaching is about empowering my students to take responsibility for their own learning. I want to help my students in clarifying their own values and provide the opportunity to explore and discover answers to the questions they create; I want my students to analyze, compare, and evaluate the answers they discover. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned all A's in my graded graduate courses at Teachers College, Columbia University. I believe this reflects my ability to study, learn, research and write research papers. My Master of Arts degree is in Psychology in Education. The courses for this program were in Developmental Psychology and Measurement and Evaluation. Developmental Psychology includes cognitive and language growth. Measurement and Evaluation includes the assessment of individuals, groups, programs and products. I have teaching experience with kindergarten through high school. I home schooled my daughter in 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th grades. She scored very high on her SATs (790 out of 800 in Critical Reading.) A Little Bit About Me...

My experience comes from earning a bachelor degree in Computer Studies. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing many research papers. I am currently a graduate student in Systems Information Technology, and am also working on a diploma for medical transcriptionist. While serving in the military I was involved in volunteer work rescuing animals, held a position as Secretary for the American International Women's Club and am now a member of the American Legion Region eight. I am also volunteering this week for the West Fest as a ticket agent.

Before deciding to return to graduate school in 2006, my relevant professional experience included teaching LSAT courses through Kaplan in the Washington, DC area during 2005. Previously, I had tutored high school students in languages and math with University Instructors from 2003-2004 in Williamsburg, VA. I also taught English classes to high school and middle school children in 2002. Additionally, I spent two summers (2001-2002) working as a preschool teaching assistant. My most recent teaching experience includes instructing ESL classes as a volunteer with Intercambio de Comunidades in Denver, CO between 2009-2010.
