I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. I try to create a relaxed and fun (silly for the little ones) atmosphere where learning will be fun and memorable, because I believe that if you enjoy it - you'll remember it. All students will be given a pre-test prior to instruction so that I can decern if the students problem is one of cognative development or simply gaps in the learning process. A Little Bit About Me...

Most recently, I was a high school math teacher for 3 years specializing in PreAlgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Astronomy. I taught regular, advanced, and special education classes. I strongly believe that students grow and excel when they are given challenges that are just beyond their current level of understanding. I was a special education paraprofessional for six years at the elementary and high school level. I have a BS in Physics/Astronomy with a Math minor from Vanderbilt University, and I taught for four years at the United States Naval Nuclear Power School.
I provide a structured environment for students to achieve their full potential in subjects that may, at first, appear intimidating. Before deciding to return to graduate school in 2006, my relevant professional experience included teaching LSAT courses through Kaplan in the Washington, DC area during 2005. Previously, I had tutored high school students in languages and math with University Instructors from 2003-2004 in Williamsburg, VA. I also taught English classes to high school and middle school children in 2002. Additionally, I spent two summers (2001-2002) working as a preschool teaching assistant. My most recent teaching experience includes instructing ESL classes as a volunteer with Intercambio de Comunidades in Denver, CO between 2009-2010.
