- I am patient with the student and make sure that he/she knows and understand that I am here to help and to provide opportunities to him/her to use the available resources at his/her disposal. Example: how to use the internet efficiently. It is a powerful tool if you know how to use it. - I let the student define and explain clearly what is it that he/she does not understand. My comments on tutoring Poetry : I am a Cerftified High School English teacher. Poetry is and effective way to express thoughts and feelings.

I have a basic approach to tutoring and teaching students: - Identify what the student knows and still needs to learn to get where we need to bo. - Identify the strengths and weaknesses...and review the strengths and work at a rigoris pace to get where we know the child's skill level needs to be. - Celebrate the students successes to build thier confidence and increase their willingness to learn more and utlimately do better. _ Building a relationship with the student that we are partners in their education and we both will work to reach our set goals.

I believe each student can learn and it’s my responsibility to find how each one learns best. So much of it is about instilling confidence in the student that he or she is intelligent and capable of mastering the subject. I have been very successful at this and have often had short tutoring assignments: once we discover what is keeping a student from grasping the subject, fixing it is easy and then the student can proceed on their own with or without the help of a parent. The younger the student, the more I appreciate having the parent involved in what I am doing, and the results we are achieving, so they can actively participate with their child, especially once I am no longer needed.
