As early as 9th grade, I was an educator. I began to volunteer as an elementary tutor, and continued this role throughout my high school career. It was because of this experience that I attended college and majored in English with a minor in Literature & Education. A Little Bit About Me...

After college, I taught preschool for a year. I have always enjoyed working with children but this was my first opportunity to teach. I find that children learn better with a hands-on approach. I tried to make sure that everything I taught the children in my class was taught in an interactive, hands-on way. I allowed the children to work together and even teach each other at times. I feel it is most important to provide children with an environment that they feel comfortable and are able to reach their full potential. I also was able to go overseas and teach, which allowed me to use my teaching style in an environment that was new. A Little Bit About Me...

My style of teaching involves interesting riddles and quizzes at the beginning of each class to prepare students. I also conduct short quizzes on a regular basis to help improve students speed. I typically include illustrations and diagrams in my teaching to enhance students understanding. The Florida Writing Assessment was implemented in grades 4, 8, and 10 as required by a law passed by the 1990 legislature. Does your student need a tutor? Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive).
