As a College graduate, I was dedicated to the advancement of myself and others. I have earned a degree in Mass Communications, yet have had the opportunity to Substitute Teach, be a Para-Professional, and also teach at-risk student in a one-on-one setting as a Homebound Instructor for 2 years. These experiences have garnered a sense of urgency within me to reach as many students who are at risk; students who often lack the background to challenge them to complete their education. I have taught these students in various subjects including, History, Math, Science, and English.
I love reaching students who are often overlooked due to their lack of mobility and interest to learn in a classroom setting. I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless. I believe that one should teach using a variety of methods because all kids do not learn the same way and each individual method shows something new each time. I believe that all kids can learn so much if they work as hard as they can and put forth maximum effort. I think it is very easy to learn/teach using as many hands on examples as possible.
