Hello! My name is Evan Levine and I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in music performance at the University of Michigan. Originally from New Jersey, I have been teaching students between the ages of 6-18 for over 8 years in both private and group settings. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a BS in Psychology, and I have experience tutoring college students through an honors position as a Writing Fellow through Jackson Community College. I have studied, worked with, and helped publish various forms of writing. These forms include scientific journal articles (APA) and analytic essays (MLA). They also include creative forms of writing such as narrative essays, fiction, and poetry. In addition to extensive experience with composition, I have volunteered for athletic coaching, piano tutoring, guitar tutoring, and music theory tutoring.
I have a peer tutoring teaching style. My goal is for the tutee to achieve success both independently and through his or her communication with others. A Little Bit About Me...

I would usually look the paper over and point out problems with grammar and spelling and tell the student why they weren't working. I believe in the mantra "show, don't tell" when it comes to teaching. I'm pretty laid back and willing to work at whatever pace the student is comfortable with. I don't move on until I feel both of us are on the same page. I think the history of the English language has a lot of really interesting trivia.
I tutored with the Writing Fellows every Thursday at Schoolcraft College when I was working towards my Associate's in Liberal Arts. I helped students write and edit their papers. The primary focus was English but there were a few Social Studies/History students thrown in there. I graduated in April 2009 from Eastern Michigan University with my Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Media and Film with a Minor in Creative Writing.
