I worked in the Polya Math Tutoring Center on the University of Idaho Campus for 3 years where I tutored various college math courses. I was also a private tutor on campus and tutored math courses up through the level of Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. Mathematics can be fun,,, REALLY

Teaching Style : Teaching style has to adjust to student. I know the subject, I must know how the student learns and adapt my teaching to that.

I have worked hard at learning German. Although all I speak right now fluently is German and English, I am working on French as well. Having this cornerstone in languages is very important to success as a tutor, because unless you can explain things, you're unable to succeed. I also think in a very step-by-step process, and found that this brought me academic success in Mathematics and Computer Science. From January of 2002 to June 2008 I taught rock climbing classes for Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon. These were 1 credit PE classes that covered beginning, intermediate and advanced rock climbing. I prepared lessons, gave lectures, supervised student practice and assessed student performance. In addition during the 2003/03 I tutored students in Geology and Mathematics while I attended Clackamas Community College.
My teaching style is easy going and less formal. I know that each student learns best in a unique way. I feel that the most effective teachers try to mold their teaching style to the student rather than the other way around. Also I like to make sure that the student learns how the particular information being taught fits in the larger field of study. I find this greatly enhances retention of information and the ability to use that information.
