Mathematics can be fun,,, REALLY

Teaching Style : Teaching style has to adjust to student. I know the subject, I must know how the student learns and adapt my teaching to that.
I have been tutoring friends and family in mathematics for thirty years, and as I enjoy this I started Tutoring. I love mathematics and teaching mathematics. And I can teach a love or at least a like for mathematics. (and I have to have 300 characters here ?, I have been accused of rambling before, but can I make it to 300 ?, OH great I made it to 300)

A Little Bit About Me...

One of my greatest tools has been mathematics. I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems. At Boise State University I was the coordinator and facilitator for the Active Learning in Mathematics Program, I lead a twelve member engineering student team and coordinated twenty plus math sessions. I was promoted based on leadership roles, determination, team work, going beyond job requirements to achieve objectives, and implemented new ideas. I improved the program by increasing student attendance, availability, collaboration, and teaching skills. Being passionate in engineering and mathematics has helped me achieve many goals, for example obtaining a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and being able help others succeed.

When I was a high school student, I tutored pre-algebra, geometry and algebra, Shakespeare, World Literature, and Earth Science. I managed my own clients and improved test scores with every client. During the summer of 2005, I tutored mentally disabled children in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I attended the University of Idaho and have received a B.S. in Mathematics. While there, I worked at the Polya Math Lab, tutoring college algebra. I continued to tutor on my own during college, and have tutored in all forms of vector calculus, from methods of integration to 3d modeling. I have always loved Math and Science, which is what led me to complete a BS in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics. My education allows me to be confident in many areas of math and science. I recently tutored a high school student in the areas of Geometry and Chemistry, which took her from a C to an A. I also volunteered my time as a Matheletes coach for a local fifth grade class as a part of the Puget Sound MESA group.
