I'm an Elementary Education major, getting ready to finish my last semester of classes at Western Governors University. I also substitute teach for Lewis County Schools, and I volunteer in the library by assisting students with their reading. I've passed all my Praxis exams required for being a teacher in the state of Kentucky, and I LOVE KIDS. I also spent almost 9 years teaching English as a Foreign Language in China, 1 year in Beijing, 7 years in Tianjin, and 1 year in Taiwan. I love to learn, which is why I love teaching children. Every child learns differently, because of this, teaching is a learning process as well! I believe that students learn best through hands on activities that allow them to internalize the concepts they are struggling with. Whether it is using math manipulatives to understand multiplication and division or using letter tiles to understand consonant blends in reading, hands on activities are the best way to learn. As an education major at Berea College, I volunteered my services as a tutor three nights a week in addition to my student teaching and education courses.
