I have served as a guidance counselor in middle schools for almost forty years and retired in December, 2013. During the last twelve years, I have tutored students in math in groups and individually. My old next door neighbors have two children. One is a boy in elementary and one is a girl in middle school. I tutored the boy in reading and writing. He was able to read his first book on his own after a few weeks with me. I had to tutor the girl in math. she was taking algebra and was having a tough time with it. In two weeks of many meetings, she was able to pass her final exam. No matter what grade I was in, I always enjoyed going down to the ESE room and helping the special kids. I did what ever I could to help.

I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! I spent the 2011-2012 school year teaching at a title 1 school in Collier County and have grown exponentially from it! I had several students in my class who needed special help, and half of my class were English language learners. These students have helped me to strengthen my skills and adapt to different student's styles.

Computer and other skills available, what I know I share.

Took three years of college courses on Psychology at Ashford University, trained with a Computer Troubleshooting Specialist for four years, have two books of my own written word poetry published. In my time at Ashford I picked plenty of shareable skills, study skills, time management, and using my keyboard to it's fullest potential to meet deadlines. While training with the Computer Troubleshooter, I learned more about how to use software and typing/keyboard shortcuts to utilize computers to their full potential. I also learned how to use properly install hardware and to build a desktop, and where to find reasonably priced keyboard components.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am patient and treat kids with the same respect I am given. since I am young, I believe teaching kids will be easier because I can understand any troubles they may be having and the material is fresh in my head.
