I love teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe in encouraging children to discover what they are to learn instead of rote learning for most things, and I also believe in establishing automaticity for some tasks, such as math facts and geometry theorems. I believe that all children are capable of learning with the right approach. It is important to persist in teaching a concept from different angles until the child "gets it." A good educator can make a world of difference to a child. Upon my graduation from high school, my calculus teacher, who had noticed my natural aptitude for mathematics and my ability to help other students to understand it, referred some younger students who had been struggling to me for tutoring. Due to my success with this first student, or rather, the student’s new found success in his math courses, my former teacher referred another student to me the following summer. As a former paraprofessional with a Master's Degree in Social Work I have worked with kids in the past behaviorally and academically.
