I am a strong believer that a tutor is a friend first, and an instructor second. Many times I have found that a student's difficulties issued from personal matters, such as a lack of confidence, rather than specific weaknesses with the material. I always make every effort to allow a student to feel as comfortable as possible within the instructional dynamic, and in my experience, this has made all the difference. With regard to my methods of instruction, every student is very different, but I have found that making the material relatable to personal interests always induces an improvement. I have always had a good ability in math and sciences. I obtained a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester, with a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. I tutored college students in Psychology and Chemistry during my time there. I have also worked with all ages of children while working as a ski-instructor.
My teaching style ultimately depends of the student. I work much better with an individual or small group than with a class because I can find the angle that works best for each student. For younger children, I like to make learning into different games to keep their attention. For older students, I think it is important to establish some level of confidence early on within a subject so that they do not get too discouraged while new material is presented.

I will be doing my student teaching in January of 2011. I am in my final year at Western Governors University.I have taught Sunday School to teens 13-18 for nine years.
