I am a recent graduate from Yale School of Art where I received my Masters of Fine Art in Painting/Printmaking. Before attending Yale I went to Asbury University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Studio Art. I have experience teaching painting and drawing classes. My work ranges from painting, video, sculpture and installation. I have shown throughout Kentucky, Ohio and Connecticut. In 2014 I will be going to Iceland for a residency at Hafnarborg Museum, as well as Vermont to the Vermont Studio Center. I was also included in this years New American Painting MFA Annual, which chooses 40 MFA Candidates to feature each year. Gaining and sharing knowledge has been a driving force throughout my life. Literacy is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. Having taught grade levels from preschool to adulthood, I know that everyone learns in their own unique manner and at their own time. I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes. I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
