I am a classically trained two-dimensional artist. I studied drawing and painting at Centre College in Kentucky and then at the Grand Central Academy of Art in Manhattan. I can teach life-drawing, master copies, cast and still-life drawing, anatomical and medical drawing and many other forms. I have been painting for over ten years, first earning my degree from Centre College and later studying classical drawing and painting in New York City at the Grand Central Academy of Art. As an education major at Berea College, I volunteered my services as a tutor three nights a week in addition to my student teaching and education courses. I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes. I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
