I like to teach by example and give the student the opportunity to learn by doing. I do not do the work for the student, but instead allow him or her to do the work with my support until he or she is capable of doing the work independently. I am patient and thorough with my work. I do not get angry and I do not act strict with students. I love helping others with Spanish and I believe that there is no right way to help kids along in the language. Everyone is different. Personally I improved immensely after volunteering as a translator in a free clinic for migrants. Speaking with native speakers was very beneficial for me. I could not have come to that point however without a lot of hard work and studying. There are many ways to improve in language study and I would be ready and able to use all of them according to the student's needs.

The 2009-2010 school year will be my third year as a substitute teacher. I have worked with all levels of students, from special needs elementary to AP high school courses, and in both urban and suburban districts. I had some training as an educator in college but have lots of real world experience as well. I have a deep understanding of research strategies and love all of the social sciences. I also am a parent to a third grader who recently tested into her school's gifted program and have plenty of experience supplementing curriculum to encourage the accelerated learner.
I believe that no two students learn alike and the most important thing is to make sure students are having fun with learning.
