A Little Bit About Me...

Having moved between English, History, and Anthropology during my undergraduate years, I've surveyed quite an extensive portion of the social sciences. I have earned a major in Anthropology and a minor in History. The workloads for these courses included several 50+ page ethnographic reports in addition to the basic course curriculum. I've previously worked with children at the Kids on Campus program at OWC, teaching Songham Taekwando.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience working in a local high school--as the school bookkeeper, as a substitute teacher, and as the cheerleader coach has given me the skills I need to teach and tutor others. I have a Master's Degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Accounting, and was asked by a former professor to teach a Principles of Accounting class. At the time, I was employed full time and could not accept the position. I have extensive skills in writing essays and research reports. I have been an Engineer for over 20 years. I have 3 children the youngest in Middle school, the other 2 have graduated High Schcool. I hav ebeen mentoring in the community for 3 years in math and 4 years during college tutoring in math, engineering, and sceince. I come from a family of teachers, Mother-Elementary, Father-9th grade English, Brother-Middle School Math. There is not much I haven't seen or heard about children learning and I take the time to get to know the pupil before, during and after our sessions
My teaching style is process based. Know the fundamental process for solving a problem then repetition to recognize how to get to a solution. Through multipe problem solutions we are able to come to an understanding that it is not to hard to learn.

I have been tutoring peers since before high school in math and science and as I have gotten older I have continued tutoring peers, colleagues, college, high school and middle school students. In addition to tutoring, I have been teaching off and on throughout my entire college and graduate school careers. I started teaching general chemistry labs in 1998 while I was a student at Mercer University and continued teaching until I graduated in 2001.
