My students have said that I make them feel comfortable and intelligent. I prefer students from age 9 to 99, and love to find that place in them that brings out the learner in them. I'm not a hard task master, yet in my casual approach is an eagerness to help my students learn that is infectious. I truly love to teach and I know it shows. Most recently I have been tutoring college students in algebra and helping dyslexic students write reports and comprehend written material. I have taught and tutored all phases of a massage program, including anatomy, physiology and pathology. Teaching ESL to all ages throughout my life including people from Mexico, Japan and Thailand is also something I've enjoyed doing. I will be upfront, I was known as a firm, but fair, teacher. I see science as a field primarily learned through doing, and I enjoy performing science demonstrations with my students to help illustrate new concepts. At the same time, I expect students to attempt to solve problems on their own, as opposed to simply memorizing how I solve problems. While it is sometimes difficult at first, I find it gives them confidence to approach future concepts and ideas both in and out of the specific science course.
