My students have said that I make them feel comfortable and intelligent. I prefer students from age 9 to 99, and love to find that place in them that brings out the learner in them. I'm not a hard task master, yet in my casual approach is an eagerness to help my students learn that is infectious. I truly love to teach and I know it shows.
Most recently I have been tutoring college students in algebra and helping dyslexic students write reports and comprehend written material. I have taught and tutored all phases of a massage program, including anatomy, physiology and pathology. Teaching ESL to all ages throughout my life including people from Mexico, Japan and Thailand is also something I've enjoyed doing. As a teacher's-assistant for children ages 4-6 I have been able to gain experience working with them one on one and in whole groups for almost two years. This has taught me the value of identifying with the child's unique learning needs in order to encourage and drive their academic success. I believe children need patience from their tutors, steady encouragement, and to be in a positive environment that allows them to feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn without distraction. A Little Bit About Me...

I will be upfront, I was known as a firm, but fair, teacher. I see science as a field primarily learned through doing, and I enjoy performing science demonstrations with my students to help illustrate new concepts. At the same time, I expect students to attempt to solve problems on their own, as opposed to simply memorizing how I solve problems.
