Deep understanding of math concepts

I am a math PhD student at Michigan State University with experience of teaching Calculus for 8 consecutive semester. Before that, back in my home, I have been teaching Algebra, Geometry and Discrete Math to high school students for more than 6 years. I have also several years of experience in teaching math preparation courses for student mathematics olympiads to smart and talented students.
I usually start a topic by proposing a problem and making the student minds to think and naturally bringing up the concepts in the topic. Then I elaborate to explain the topic, usually drawing graphs, diagrams, etc. if necessary. To learn a specific skill, for example in Algebra or Calculus, I usually apply and explain the procedure for a few simple example and then explain the technique as a general procedure.

As a person who has grown up in Pakistan, studied in the UK and is now in US, I can communicate and understand different kinds of people. I have taught as a temporary teacher in a school called Education Bay in Karachi, Pakistan. I have also taught at a special children institute for 2 years in Karachi, Pakistan. In 2006 I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Engineering Science. It gave me an understanding in a broad range of mathematical areas as well as areas of other sciences. During that time I worked with volunteer organizations like Salem Housing and Habitat for humanity for three years, which enabled me to mentor a variety of ages. In the last year I've worked with a homeschooling group on a project called, "Leaping Lizards."
I love people's capacity for learning. It gives me joy to know that I have helped another learn something new. I am patient, relaxed, and try to keep tutoring interesting for the recipient.
