I can assist children with reading fluency and their accuracy so they can score higher in their reading levels. I have volunteered in a school district for just over 3 years and when I do volunteer I assist children in the classroom who have problems in their reading and math. By assisting these students they have improved on their tests as well as gaining confidence in their learning. I work really well one on one with the child who needs such assistance but also in small groups. If needed to assist a child online it can be done as long as there are materials available for the child that is provided by the school.

I have taught reading in both the public school and as a tutor. I believe reading should be taught with both phonics and sight. Unfortunately, schools today usually only teach one or the other. Which is why, I believe, so many of our children can'y read noe days. I begin with phonics, and with time teach the student easy sight words to memorize, add more difficult ones as we move along and before you know it the student is reading like a pro. I taught 1st Grade Gifted and Talented for 4 years in Baytown, Texas as a self-contained classroom teacher. I was the Team Lead teacher the last two years.
