My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : Honors degree in applied marine biology: experienced marine tidal developer

I hold an honor's degree in marine biology and a masters degree in marine renewable energy. I have a strong scientific background performing environmental studies and development of marine tidal energy developments. I have previously privately tutored young adults from 12-18 years old. Whilst working towards my masters degree i was employed as a student ambassador with Plymouth University; trusted to teach and promote higher education to schools and colleges around England.
I am very adaptable and can either teach in a very structured format, or focus on a students specific area of need. The first teaching session focuses on the students needs, preferences and proffered teaching / study methods. I can use this information to tailor my teaching to your specific needs.

Every child possesses a natural curiosity and a desire for knowledge and I believe it is our duty as educators to nurture this desire and to give each child the skills to reason and to explore. My goal is to provide the right learning experience for the student coupled with positive feedback and encouragement. I am patient, pleasant and allow every student to develop at their own pace and style of learning.
I graduated with a degree in English, Social Science and Biology from the University of Exeter in England. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that there is a scientist in each and everyone of us.everyone is different, all of us are good at something or the other.I believe if we are good at something ,for example ,painting, its because it seems interesting for us.So my point is to make the subject interesting and understandable for the kids. I assume everyone is capable of learning the material and try different ways of introducing and reinforcing information until it sinks in.
When I was in high school ,I had a passion for physics.I realized that I should know more about the subject,so I took my bachelor degree in physics .Along with physics I studied electronics and mathematics.I really believe that I enjoyed each and every moment of my science lessons and because of that I was honored as the First Rank holder in my university. While doing my masters degree in the same university ,my professors gave me opportuni ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past four years I have been working at The Children's ARK-A residential treatment facility for at-risk youth. I was a teaching assistant my first year and I have been teaching for the last three years all content areas and subjects for grades 5-8. As for my educational background, I am currently on a TTE (Temporary Teaching license)and I will have my SPED generalist permanent license in May. Also, I will have an added endorsement and a Master's degree this summer 2010. I currently hold a B.A. in Psychology and that degree has proved to be very helpful with working with children with emotional issues.
I believe that it is the teacher's job to discover the true learning style of their students and when we do it is like unlocking a treasure chest of gold, so to speak. I enjoy teaching all the subjects in school and I enjoy the challenge of teaching children with learning disab ... read more

I love working with young people and sharing my knowledge and love of learning with them. I enjoy learning from them and hearing about their ideas, interests, and abilities. I find it easy to connect with students and quickly build a rapport with them. I am extremely patient, and it is very rare that I feel any sense of frustration when working with kids. I am able to explain difficult concepts in simple terms and in various ways. I feel that feedback to students should be positive & constructive. I do not use sarcasm, intimidation, or ridicule. I strive to prevent children from feeling embarrassment for any difficulties they are having. I enjoy helping students to experience success, make new discoveries, and gain new skills!

I taught Environmental Science to disadvantaged kids in McKenzie, TN while on summer break from college and then I taught young children about animals and their lifesytles at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I am currently working on a master's degree in secondary science. I suffered from a learning disability when I was a high school student, so I understanding students when they just aren't able to quite understand and know that it's okay to seek help.
I feel that each student has their own individual style of learning and I will take that into consideration when tutoring your son/daughter. I know that not everyone learns the same way and that there is not a concrete form of teaching and that to be able to reach an individual student, the teacher must accomodate their teaching style to reach the student.

I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I learned to easily adapt to various learning styles, learning barriers, and researching subjects. While still in the service, I utilized my lunch breaks and evenings to further my education and emerged with my AA and completed Nurse Assistant training while still serving and my BS only one year later; two months after retiring. Currently, I am working on my MS in Health Promotion with a certificate in Disaster in Public Health. I am capable of producing a lesson and effectively teaching any subject.
I am very adaptive. I accept challenges warmly. I love working with children; I teach at my church at the elementary level weekly. I also enjoy working with adults in a non-threatening way. I am a patient person and know tha ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1984. My subjects of passion were math and science and I enjoy working with children who struggle in those areas. I have home schooled my son through the end of 12th grade and he was ready for college freshman classes at age 15. Starting in his second grade year, we were joined by a student who has learning disabilities. He also thrived in the tutorial teaching environment. My desire is to work with children who really desire to learn but need that extra time and encouragement to succeed.
I have experience working with both audio/visual learners and a kinesthetic/tactile learner. The kinesthetic/tactile learner had learning disabilities akin to ADD, but still did very well in the small group environment. I believe that children who want to learn will do so given the proper setting and sufficient time to succeed ... read more

Throughout my educational career I have always enjoyed science classes. Due to this proficiency I was selected as a teacher's assistant for two undergraduate Biology classes. I also took 3 science based education classes. These classes were a great experience where we worked at a local high school with three exceptional science teachers. During the school year, I also taught a six week Saturday science experience to 4th -6th graders; then in the summer I taught at two different science camps. After college, I chose to become a dental student at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.
My approach to tutoring is based on the belief that science is a fun and interesting subject. I always maintain a positive attitude and attempt to teach science without being boring. I have good communication skills and can work with students in a constructive, encouraging, and non-a ... read more
