A Little Bit About Me...

As an educator my teaching style is very laid back and easy going. I like my students to use there own knowledge to search for a solution while I give them a little bit of guidance. My non-threatening approach tends to win over students and helps them feel relax and not fear to ask questions. My goal is to improve all students in the areas of math and help them feel more comfortable when they encounter it on there own.
While attending Florida A&M University I always had a passion for Mathematics, therefore my first year I took Honors Calculus I and received a grade of a 'B'. During my four years at Notre Dame, I majored in mathematics and gained alot of experience in various areas of math. In addition, Notre Dame requires everyone to take a broad range of subjects for general credit and so I have learned skills in writing and grammar through work on several research papers. In my spare time, I tutored elementary age kids with homework and this last summer, I spent five weeks teaching primary school math in Uganda. Lastly, for the last three years, I worked as both a group tutor and an individual tutor for the First Year of Studies program at Notre Dame. I tutored freshman in both Calculus I and II and feel very comfortable working as a tutor in any setting.

My fascination with computers led me to ear two bachelor degrees in computer engineering from Morocco and computer criminology from the Florida State University. Both degrees challenged my comprehension of complex problems in math, algorithms, criminology. Furthermore, I had the privilege to serve as a lab assistant which allowed me to develop and improve my teaching capabilities. I also tutored students during my junior and senior year at FSU in discrete mathematics, databases, programming, French and Arabic.

I have always found myself adept at teaching. I have a great deal of patience and a genuine fondness for instruction. I was employed by the Interior Design department at FSU to teach undergraduate courses, being an instructor of record for the inital course for the department, Design Fundamentals. I have a passion for teaching and learning- it runs in the family as my husband is a middle school science and math teacher. Our parents are lifelong edcuators in Wakulla County. Now that I have earned my Master's degree I would like to continue that family tradition.
I believe that while students may forget specifics of what they are learning, they will never forget how teachers make them feel.
