A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching Reading Strategies and Basic Math at a community college for approximately 10 years. I have also taught pre-school, 3rd/4th in one classroom, and 5th, the last 2 classrooms were self-contained. I have experience in substitute teaching on various levels in a variety of school corporations. I also taught one year of elementary art for a parochial school. Along with teaching at the community college, I tutor students in Basic Math.
Education does not stop with books. I incorporate "real life" experiences with the material being presented. I try to make the subject fun and meaningful to the student. I like to work one-on-one with students. I can get a better feel for their learning style and therefore teach for that specific student. I like to teach by relating the subject to real life situations. All students can learn anything, it just sometimes takes a more personal approach before it really clicks. That is what I want to provide for a student.
I graduated Cum Laude from Ball State with a double major in Visual Communication and Genetics. Both my parents were teachers and I often tutored my friends. I taught Swimming to children every summer for from 2001-2005, so I have experience with young children having a hard time paying attention. I have strong skills in science and math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a Senior at Bethel College. I will recieve a bachelor's in Psychology at May 1, 2011. I have been tutoring since the summer of 2010. I tutored pre-algebra this summer during my internship at Bashor Children's Home in Goshen Indiana. I am currently tutoring College Pre-Algebra at Bethel College. I have excelled in Written Communications 3, Reseach Methods, College Statistics, and the psychology courses that I have taken. I have also taken 4.5 years of Spanish. I am well capable to tutoring in any of the subjects that I have mentioned.
