I tutored a fourth grader for one school year. I have also tutored at a tutoring center and worked with kindergarten children. Unfortunately I was only there for one month due to scheduling issues with my college classes. I do volunteer with the nursery and young children at my church from time to time and I have experience teaching kids from preschool all the way up to sixth grade (due to volunteering at church).
I'm fairly laid back. I try to get to know the student first and see how they do with their work on their own and of course helping them out when needed. Occasionally, I'll give my own tests to see how well their test taking skills are and how they do under pressure. Once I get an idea of which area is their weak point, I'll prioritize the subjects so that more time is focused on their weak area whether it be reading, math, writing, or even just test taking skills. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science with focus on the Microsoft languages (C++, C#, ASP, dotNEt, etc.) The requirements for this degree was heavy in math. My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : Previously taught in a district where phonics was the core of reading instruction in the early grades. I previously taught phonics in a second grade classroom.

I am a very open minded individual and I really try not to tailor my teaching style to a group, rather I try to find methods and strategies that work individually for each specific student.
