Fuller Learning. The holistic aproach to tutoring

I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. I try to create a relaxed and fun (silly for the little ones) atmosphere where learning will be fun and memorable, because I believe that if you enjoy it - you'll remember it. All students will be given a pre-test prior to instruction so that I can decern if the students problem is one of cognative development or simply gaps in the learning process. I try to help the student relate their learning to real world experiences.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a seeker of truth with an acute interest in human nature, cognition and development, I am naturally drawn to education of today’s children to help construct the foundation for a sustainable tomorrow. I have earned two bachelor degrees, a BA in Philosophy and BA in Anthropology, which has enabled me to gain insight in the acquisition and development of thought, language and literacy. During the last nine years in the classroom I have learned and used practical teaching strategies and have taught students developmental strategies in literacy, math, science, and philosophy. I graduated with a BS in history in 1996. After nearly seven years working for a large communications corporation I returned to college to get my teaching credentials. I completed a years student teaching and have taught middle school and high school at a local private school. At that school I often tutored students, offered help on my own time, and was the monitor of the school's study hall, Homework Club. Since 2009 I have taught adults at a local technical college. I am proud to say I have dedicated my life and time to students of ages 5-62.

When I was attending Regis University, I started majoring in English and minoring in Education. I student taught and tutored two days out of the week for four hours for two and a half consecutive semesters. I absolutely enjoyed working with the students, it was the teachers that had me hang up my hat in that field. I would hear the teachers complain and witness them not helping the students with their %110. This was very disheartening. It made me think that teaching would become a job for me, and not a satisfaction of fulfilling students own dreams. I know realize that it is the attitude and respect for the students that help them learn, not making them do meaningless work.
