My comments on tutoring Accounting : I taught accounting at Ohio University and Remington College. I passed the AICPA exam in 1969 (first try). I have four years experience as a CPA with Ernst & Young. I have four years of experience at MPI. I do my own accounting and taxes for my Company.

At MSU, I first worked as a Supplemental Instructor and then became a Graduate Assistant (before I even earned my Bachelor's degree) in the School of Business. I also worked in the math department as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. I have taught business, accounting and math classes at the college level when instructor was absent. Accounting lends itself well to this approach because at its core GAAP accounting is nothing more than a common sense approach to valuing and reporting financial transactions. Shorn of their technical jargon, one can see that they are easy to understand. The key is how to remove the technical wrappings so that the student can see the intuitive logic behind the jargon.
