My true passion in life is for teaching. Since I was a teen, I have gravitated toward teaching, and have been blessed to be continually drawn back to my gift – teaching! Students find my unique life-related “stories” that parallel biological processes extremely useful in remembering the intricacies of each process for exam time and beyond. I believe that each student is different, and that the best teaching method differs with each student. Some students respond better to being challenged while others will require smaller steps. The goals of the students also vary, some needing only to pass while others need a solid foundation in anticipation of further study. I believe I can tailor instruction to the students' needs. I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Math classes included Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations and Matrices, and Engineering Math. My MS in Engineering Management included several classes in Statistics and Probabilities. I tutored middle school students 12 hours per week for two years at Ramstein Middle School, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

As a college graduate I was motivated to find a job and begin my career. I have decided that after three and a half years of hard work through school and a gratifying 3 years of labratory experience (including 6 months of post-graduate full time work) that I am not ready for a career in chemistry. I have decided to slow the pace down and enjoy life for a while. I have lived in Aspen since December and worked for the SkiCo for that time. I bring a lot of energy to the classroom and ensure that I am over-prepared for each lesson. I enjoy involving every student in a classroom setting and encourage an active, open learning environment. I also believe it is a very valuable experience to be able to work with students one-on-one. I like to work with each student to figure out his or her individual learning style and needs. Though it may not be applicable for this position, I try to plan group activities when possible, so that students can learn from one another and help each other work through problems.
