I am very dynamic personable adult who loves to laugh, but also knows how to get down to business and get work done. I think it is very important to not only feed information to your student, but also to create a relationship them. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. I have been able to teach non-technical elderly adults computers and teens that had no interest in religion by creating a relaxed atmosphere and attempting to make the subjects interesting, relevant and fun. Working for the Youth and Family Services department, I collaborated with counselors in an after-school mentoring program designed to promote self-sufficiency and leadership development for 100-plus underprivileged teens. My most recent position as an English Teaching Assistant in France enhanced my communication skills ten-fold. This experience taught me to effectively convert difficult subject matter into simple and comprehensible explanations which could be understood by educationally-diverse groups of students.
