My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.
For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

Continuing education is vital to the success of many engaged in the ever diversifying classroom. Many traditional aspects of education are changing as I learned from other current educators participating in my Transition to Teaching program. I was honored to earn my teaching certificate while working with professional experienced teachers. My most recent experience was a Social Studies teacher position at a local Montessori school. Providing students with consistency and stability as they plan their own goals is intrinsically rewarding. I also recently served as a temporary long-term counselor and 7th grade Math teacher in Greater Clark Schools. I look forward to discussing how my qualifications and experience may benefit your student.
Believing that people learn best from what they consider most relevant to their lives, my teaching style is one which encourages learners to seek ... read more

I think the best way to teach is to try to find examples that my students will relate to when it comes to instruction. Students can have very different life experiences, which can help, or hinder, their ability to learn certain subjects. My role is to help those students that have difficulty with understanding certain subjects to work with them to come to an understanding of the material, and learn from it.
I have a wide variety of professional experience in addition to my educational background. I have nearly a quarter century of experience as an auditor, accountant, financial analyst, HR administrator, etc. My career has been spent at large corparations, small businesses, government agencies and as a free lance independent contractor.

Graduating from Northwestern University, I know what it takes to succeed in the classroom. I received two degrees in math and economics, giving me a strong foundation in math and science. Upon graduation I worked for two years with a Christian ministry where I gained experience mentoring students one-on-one and in small group Bible studies. Currently I am pursuing my master’s degree at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition, I work as a teacher in a private high school where I have the opportunity to teach Calculus, Algebra, Physics, and Logic. I feel comfortable teaching any subject and am passionate about helping others learn.
My goal with your child is not merely to transfer information but to cultivate a love for learning and a passion for excellence. I enjoy thinking through creative ways to teach ordinary subjects that can help a student enjoy the learning pro ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I I love the fields of accounting and finance. I graduated top in both concentrations in college. I am currently studying to obtain my CPA license. I have completed internships at top private companies in the Louisville area and one public CPA firm. My dream is to become a college professor teaching accounting and/ or finance. I also loved to teach the subjects in school to other student. I give me great personal satisfaction to be able to help others learn. During college, I would hold study sessions with the other students and help answer any questions they would have. I also have a 7 year-old daughter whom I help with school work.
I am very patient with people I’ve helped in the past. Different students need different methods of teaching….. Some learn better with visual examples, while others learn better reading the material themselves. I try to discover the best way ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy the German language very much and love explaining how it works to students. Though students learn in different ways, practicing both written and conversational German is imperative to be successful in mastering the language.
As a student of German at Bellarmine University, I was able to learn the German language through immersion experiences in Austria and Germany. I also studied German grammar and literature in depth through classes at Bellarmine. I was a tutor in the Academic Resource Center for two years as I was completing my degree and continued to work with students for a year after my graduation.

Upon graduation, i worked for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)as subject officer in Economics, History and Social Studies. WAEC is the equivalent of SAT or College Board in the U.S. My responsibilities included:networking with academics in developing curriculum, developing test items, scoring keys and marking schemes in the above subjects.
