My comments on tutoring Spelling : I can help children remember how to spell words. I would start by teaching study skills.

The first strategy that I use is building a relationship with the student by getting to know who they are, what there favorite things are, subjects, goals etc... This helps me discover what strategies I can use to help them learn. I also try to discover which learning method works best. Are they visual or auditory learner? Do they learn by having things taught step by step, or do they learn through visual or read aloud examples? I believe that every student has the ability to learn and to succeed; it is about finding the best strategy and providing that extra support. Being that advocate for students is the reason I went into school counseling.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a credentialed teacher of ESL. I maintain relationships with students by building confidence, making them feel comfortable and having fun. I make sure lesson plans cover the many activities and events taking place in and around the city, including those in students’ neighborhood.
