A Little Bit About Me...

My educational background is in physics and mechanical engineering with minors in math and astronomy. After college, I've aimed towards obtaining a secondary math teacher license. Currently enrolled in the Alternative Routes to Licensure in SLC, I have taken education classes and gained 3-years experience teaching pre-algebra and 4th grade math and preschool. I have found that after teaching multiple grades, I want to focus on teaching math at a higher level. I have 6 years of tutoring experience both independent work and with ClubZ! Tutoring. I have tutored in Maine and SLC at the high school and college level in math, as well as at the high school level in biology, physics, and chemistry.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a classroom teacher for the last 18 years. I have taught in both Public Junior High and High Schools, as well as Private School. I love teaching science, and love to make the class exciting. It really gets students going when you use current events to teach and when kids debate issues, it is a great learning opportunity!
I think all children are driven to learn, and if directed with a little help, everyone can learn how science changes peoples lives. I feel more like a coach and less like a lecturer. If you can make connections between things they know, and the things you are trying to teach them, they will have something to "hang" that new knowledge on!

As a student at UofU and BYU I tutored and was tutored myself. While attending BYU I worked in the student advisement center part-time, mentoring and helping students develop their schedules, and tutored them in subject matter from courses I'd already completed. I served as a volunteer representative for the LDS church for two years in Denmark and Iceland. I speak fluent Danish and Norwegian, and I taught extensively on many topics to all age groups while over there. I've tutored other students, friends, and family in math and math-related fields(up to calculus III level math). I excelled at Math and English composition in school. At my current job I train new team members in restaurant operations as well as handle restaurant finances. I currently work as a manager for Romano's Macaroni Grill in Provo, Murray, and Salt Lake.
