Florida Writes Tutoring
Florida Writes is designed to measure students' proficiency in writing responses to assigned topics within a designated testing period. Find your tutor now. Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive). Florida Writes is difficult for some students. Give your child an edge by selecting a tutor today on your terms, on your schedule, to suit your needs and within budget.

How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. I have been a CEO, Vice President, Consultant, Senior Broker, Artist, Photographer, Glass Blower, Jewelry Designer and writer, the job titles have changed over the years; the only consistent has been that teaching has always been a part of my working life. I fundamentally believe anyone can learn. If a student isn’t grasping a concept, it just means I have to change my style of teaching. So what is my teaching style…anything that helps a student achieve his or h

I am a people person, first and foremost. I enjoy getting to know families and children, and working together to create a learning environment that helps each student learn at his or her own pace. I like to look at challenges from many different angles, and I seek solutions as pieces to a puzzle. Enthusiasm and energy are two of my best points, but I can easily tailor my style to the atmosphere as needed. I believe that the tutor guides, but the child does the growing. My area of expertise and greatest joy have always been reading and writing, from childhood on. My dual degree is in magazine journalism and linguistics. These skills have enabled me to work in the New York City publishing industry in a variety of editorial positions. Here in the capital district, my favorite job has been project manager at a language services provider, where I could use my French and even my Norwegian whil

I have always been a very direct teacher. What I mean by that is I am very clear on what my goals are in a classroom from the very first day I begin. I let all of the students know what my expectations are, and what dissapoints me. I know that each child is different. I have always been willing to take the time to support those students who need extra attention, whether it be before or after school.
Every student is capable of learning, but not every student is willing. Part of my job is to encourage them to choose the right path to their success. Throughout the years, I have had many experiences in the field of education. I began my experience in the classroom as a student teacher at Syracuse University. My first assignment was a 12th grade classroom as a freshman in college. This was a very challenging, yet rewarding experience that taught me how to discipline and gain respect from
