A Little Bit About Me...

I am ranked 12 ou of 496 in my class. I am an Honors and AP college student. I have a 4.83 grade point average. I take eight classes a day from 5:50am - 3:00pm. I am a voluntary tutor for students after school and I have been successfully doing that for a year now. I love working with studens and I get along with all of them because they are usually around my age as well.

I was a high school art teacher for two years and I worked in a college library for four years. I am able and willing to work with students of all ages. My approach to teaching is to provide what is needed, and sometimes that is not limited to the explicit task at hand. As an English teacher/tutor, I have often found that, rather than merely showing students how to recognize a complete sentence and use correct punctuation and grammar, the more important thing is to prove to them that they can think, and that they are intelligent. To this end, I use gentle Socratic questioning to stimulate students, loosen them up, get them interested, and increase their comfort. Often, what comes out of a student's mouth is surprisingly wonderful, and I quickly say, "That's great! Write that down!"
