During my time there I was a member of the Varsity Swimming team where I competed against world class athletes within the Atlantic Coast Conference. Balancing life as a student-athlete created a unique and challenging college experience for me. As well as athletic experience, I served as an Assistant to the Director of Community Relations at IPTAY Collegiate Club for 2 years. I believe that comparing complex concepts to everyday, personal objects and situations is the most effective way to learn. Therefore, I am big on metaphors. Algebraic concepts and formulas can often be, I have found, analogous to much simpler ideas or images. Once the abstract is related to the mundane, we can break down the barrier to understanding that can be an automatic or habitual construction for many people.
