My teaching style is one that is student centered. When I first meet a child, my priority becomes to learn what teaching style best fits them. I do this through the use of Howard Gardener's Multiple Intelligences. I hold high expectations for all students and reward effort. I am strict, but also fair and kind. To be honest I worked as a Substitute because I was Laid off from my job. But when I started teaching I found it was very difficult to keep control of the class and to get the students to do their work. I thought I couldn't do this anymore. I didn't quit and things did get better. I learned that most of these children were from single parent homes, and were living below the poverty level. They were scared, hungrey and tired at times, and I new I had to adjust for me to be of any help, and I did.
