I love the experience of teaching children and seeing the light in their eyes when they understand what they are learning. I believe each child learns in their own way and in their own time. As such, I believe in going along with the student's ability. I do not believe in high pressure teaching. I am patient and easy going. If a student is struggling, I back up and try another approach. I strive for my students to enjoy what they are learning as much as possible.
I earned my Bachelor degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics. I was a substitute teacher for three years. I recently earned nine credit hours of additional education in order to renew my teaching license with the State of Ohio. I believe in a combination of classic and Modern Music I feel that the classics provide the basics and the structure that one needs to learn properly, I feel the modern Music helps with retaining students and creates a sense accomplishment by being able to play music that they hear on a regular bases. I also promote creativity and try to challenge the students to seek out improvements in what they are learning . Finally I believe that music should be both challenging and fun and the Students should not be forced and should be allowed to choose to learn music.
I started playing piano at the age of two. This was do to the fact that my grandmother was a professional piano instructor.
