I first learned German in 1999, when I moved to Luxembourg. School was mostly in German, in High School, most my classes were in French or German. I have made regular trips to Germany and I am used to watching TV in German. I have no problem understanding and speaking it. If you need help with your basics, it would be my pleasure to help you. I feel that I can relate to children because I am also a child at heart.
