I firmly believe that a good education must be adaptable, flexible, and incorporate a variety of learning styles if it is to be of maximum benefit to students. When teaching, I speak with my students about the kinds of activities they feel assist them most in retaining information as well as observing their learning style independently. As a Controller, analyst and consultant of Computerized Accounting systems for small and medium sized businesses, I have 25 years plus, of extensive experience training and teaching both accounting and non-accounting executives how to data entry in 'subsidiary journals' like Accounts Receivable, Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets and how to reconcile to 'control accounts' in General Ledger. My approach to tutoring would be to explain the mechanics of recording business transactions (two sides to a transactions, thus "double entry") rather than rote learning.This would benefit them to pass exams as well as in business if they chose to pursue a career in business and finance.
